This Week In Film & Theatre – 12th March 2012

It’s a bit of a quiet week this week in Bristol but here’s a brief run-down of things you might want to get along to…

On Stage

There’s been a lot of buzz around Inua Ellams’ Black T-shirt Collection at the Old Vic from Thursday (15th – 17th, 8pm, £12) and Folie a Deux’s Green Eyed Zero looks pretty interesting – “…circus, theatre and state of the art technology meet with the beautiful physicality of expression”.

Otherwise, there are three new pieces in one show in On The Verge at the Bierkeller Theatre on Tuesday 13th and a German play about sexual oppression (Spring Awakening) at The Alma Tavern.

At The Cinema

If you haven’t yet caught psychological thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene about a girl’s experiences in and escape from a cult, it’s on at the Cube Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week (cheap on Tuesday).

Argentinian film noir Carancho at the Watershed this week has received good reviews and stars Ricardo Darín, from Oscar-winner The Secret In Their Eyes, as an ambulance-chasing lawyer.

Whether you’re thinking about seeing John Carter (3D) or not, Peter Bradshaw’s damning review in the Guardian is quite a fun read!
